My apologies in advance for my fellow 85284 neighbors who feel the need to complain and 
rant about every business that comes in that they do not like. For the record, I am in favor 
of the massage parlor. While I will never be a customer, as I do not support those types of 
establishments, I am a believer that the free market will dictate who can stay vs. who must 
close due to lack of business.

not align with the atmosphere we’ve worked hard to maintain and may 
introduce elements that make many of us feel uneasy in our own community

I live in Corona del sol Estates, SW corner of McClintock and Warner. We don’t need or want a massage 
parlor anywhere near that intersection. There’s a massage place on the next corner at McClintock and Ray. 
And quite possibly more, closer. It’s saturated and undesirable. It will lower our property value, leaving 
opportunities open for dollar stores and check cashing places. Not kidding. Please think of keeping Tempe, 
and South Tempe, on the up. It’s bad enough the homeless are sleeping all along McClintock and Warner 
tucked back into hidden spots. And they also hang out at the bus stops, leaving trash behibd. You all may 
want to take an actual walk in this area and check it out.

I am a homeowner in Corona Del Sol, the neighborhood behind the Bashas Shopping center where the 
massage establishment is being proposed. (L250382) I am not in favor of this business.  Massage 
establishments often break the character of a shopping center.  It’s important that businesses address the 
needs and values of the community. 
 
I’ll be attending tomorrow’s DRC meeting along with other homeowners from 85284.

Hello Whitney, 
 
I would like to provide input on the proposed massage establishment seeking to open a business at 
Warner & McClintock in the Bashas plaza (PL250382). 
 
While some massage spa business are “safe”, such as Massage Envy, very corporate, very controlled, a 
zero tolerance policy, many massage parlors are not as ethical, as I’m sure you are aware.  As someone 
who lives very near by (Los Tesoros), shops at Bashas, and eats at Canes chicken, I’m not in favor (nor is 
my husband) of a massage parlor being set up in our home-style shopping center.   
 
Personal experience – my family owns a small commercial building in Scottsdale and a number of years 
back, desperate for a tenant, rented to an Asian lady who claimed to have a foot and body and 
reflexology business.  That’s how it was set up. 
 
A couple years into it, I started getting calls from detectives who were working on the case because 
other businesses folks in the plaza noticed men loitering.  Undercover cops were utilized to make 
massage appointments.  When females called for an appointment, they were told they could not fit 
them in.  The clientele became men only.  When the male detectives got scheduled, they concluded that 
it was not just massages taking place.  We were asked by the prosecutor to evict them or we would be 
prosecuted as well. 
 
Our neighborhood has precious children who ride bikes or take their dogs for walks.   I often see Corona 
students jogging on McClintock.  Aside from not wanting to see neon “open” lights, it’s just too risky to 
put something like adjacent to our residential neighborhoods.  
 
I hope you will support our position and oppose this location for a massage parlor.
