ACTION:  Adopt a resolution authorizing the Mayor to approve an Application and Operating 
Agreement for a School Crossing with Tempe Elementary School District #3, Wood Elementary School. 
(Resolution No. R2026.40)

RECOMMENDATION:  Adopt Resolution No. R2026.40.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  In accordance with Section 28-797 of the Arizona Revised 
Statues, the City of Tempe by and with the advice of the school district governing board is responsible 
for the placement of markings and signs for school crosswalks in front of each school building or school 
grounds abutting the locations where children are required to cross the highway or street. The Tempe 
Elementary School District #3 (TD3) is the governing board for Wood Elementary School and the 
superintendent of TD3 has the authority to enter into school crossing agreements.  
The crossing will be operated by the school, and TD3 has requested that an Application and Operating 
Agreement for School Crossings be entered into for a crossing on the north side of Cornell Drive 
adjacent to the school.
