REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Adopt a resolution authorizing the Tempe Police Department to accept funds for the 
appropriation related to section 127 of House Bill 2455 for law enforcement data sharing software. 
(Resolution No. R2026.44)
FISCAL IMPACT:  The amount of the appropriation is $189,660. This appropriation will supplement 
the Police Department’s existing General Fund appropriation. Sufficient budget appropriation for 
expenditure has been set aside in Cost Center 45999 (Contingency) and was included as part of the 
Police Grants and Restricted Revenue (Fund 45) as part of the fiscal year 2025-26 adopted budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Adopt Resolution No. R2026.44.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  House Bill 2455 was passed and allowed an appropriation for the 
Law Enforcement Records Management System, established under Laws 2024. Ch. 209, Sec. 127. 
Specifically, per section 127 of the House Bill, the Tempe Police Department was allocated $189,660 
for this purpose.
