ORDINANCE NO. O2026.18
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 
OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, AMENDING CHAPTER 19, 
ARTICLE V, SPEED REGULATION, RELATING TO 
MOTOR VEHICLES AND MULTIMODAL TRAFFIC, BY 
AMENDING SECTION 19-63 RELATING TO SPEED 
LIMITS ENUMERATED.
  
WHEREAS, the City regulates speed limits in the City for vehicular traffic on City 
streets; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation and Sustainability Department has conducted studies and 
reviewed the speed limits for certain streets; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined after review, hearing, and public input that 
it is in the best interests of the City to adjust the prima facie speed limit for certain streets;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, 
as follows:
Section 1.
Chapter 19, Article V, Section 19-63 of the Tempe City Code related to 
motor vehicles and speed limits enumerated is hereby amended as set forth on Exhibit A with 
additions in AllCAPS and deletions in strikethrough font.
Section 2.
The Transportation and Sustainability Director is hereby authorized to 
take such actions and execute such further documents as may be necessary to carry out the 
purposes of this Ordinance.

Sec. 19-63. – Speed limit enumerated.
It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation by the 
Traffic Engineer that the speed limit permitted by state law on the following streets or 
intersections is greater than, or less than, is reasonable under existing conditions, and it is hereby 
declared that the maximum speed limits shall be as hereinafter set forth on those streets, parts of 
streets or intersections herein designated at the times specified when signs are erected giving 
notice thereof:
