BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  AQUACROSSINGS (PL260123) is proposing aquamation (water 
cremation) use in the GID zoning district, located at 1818 West 4th Street. AquaCrossings is a water 
baser cremation, referred to as aquamation, for household pets. On March 30, 2026, the City of Tempe 
issued a Zoning Administrator’s Opinion that deemed “aquamation” shall be considered a similar land 
use to Cemetery, Crematorium, Mausoleum. The request includes the following:
ZUP260024 Use Permit to allow a Cemetery, Crematorium, Mausoleum in the GID zoning district.
