REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Approve the utilization of a one-year State of Arizona cooperative contract with Cox 
Communications and Century Link Communications, LLC dba Lumen Technologies Group for internet, 
carrier, and broadband communication services to provide local and long-distance telephone access for 
all City departments.
FISCAL IMPACT:  The total cost of these contracts shall not exceed $500,000. Sufficient funds have 
been appropriated in the General Fund, Cost Center 1971 (IT Administration), Highway User Fund, Cost 
Center 3821 (Transportation Administration), 3825 (Signal System) and Transit Special Revenue Fund, 
Cost Center 3914 (Transportation Operations), for anticipated expenditures during the current fiscal year 
and next fiscal year, contingent upon City Council approval of the City's annual budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the utilization of the contracts.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  (CTR075603 and CTR075598) The State of Arizona solicited and 
awarded contracts to Cox Communications and Century Link Communications, LLC dba Lumen 
Technologies Group for the purchase of internet, carrier, and broadband communication services to 
provide local and long-distance telephone access. The contract contains cooperative language allowing 
its use by other government agencies. The State of Arizona utilized a competitive bid process that 
established pricing based on significant purchase volumes anticipated for the State and other 
governmental agencies.
