ACTION:  Approve the utilization of a one-year City of Mesa contract with Norwood Equipment, LLC. 
and AZ Wastewater Industries, Inc., for the rental of sewer vacuum trucks.
FISCAL IMPACT:  The total cost of the contract will not exceed $400,000. Sufficient funds have been 
appropriated in the Water and Wastewater Fund, Cost Center 3022 (Water Distribution System) for 
anticipated expenditures during the current fiscal year and next fiscal year, contingent upon City Council 
approval of the City’s annual budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the utilization of the contract.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  (2023193) The City of Mesa solicited and awarded Norwood 
Equipment, Inc. and AZ Wastewater Industries, Inc., a contract for the rental of vacuum trucks. Vacuum 
trucks are a type of heavy equipment that are used to maintain sewer and stormwater systems by 
suctioning, transporting, and disposing of liquids, sludges, and dry materials using high-power vacuum 
systems. This contract will be used on an as needed basis to provide additional vehicle capacity to 
supplement the three vacuum truck units that are currently owned by the Public Works Department. 
Mesa utilized a competitive bid process that established rates for the rental of vacuum trucks. Norwood 
Equipment and AZ
Wastewater Industries meet the requirements of the contract and agreed to the rental pricing established 
by the City of Mesa.
