A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 
OF 
TEMPE, 
ARIZONA, 
APPROVING 
OF 
AND 
AUTHORIZING 
THE 
MAYOR 
TO 
EXECUTE 
AN 
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF TEMPE AND THE 
FRIENDS OF THE TEMPE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOR THE 
MANAGEMENT OF CONNECTIONS CAFE.
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Tempe Public Library is a nonprofit charitable organization 
whose purpose is to generate additional funds to be used for the benefit of the Library; and 
WHEREAS, Since 2006, the City has allowed Friends to use certain space in the Tempe 
Public Library for the operation of a café, known as Connections Café, and small bookstore; the 
City and Friends’ prior relationship is memorialized in City Contract No. C2006-65 and all 
amendments thereto; and
WHEREAS, the parties agree that the relationship has been beneficial to the City and 
Friends, and they desire to continue the relationship by entering into a new agreement for the 
management of Connections Café and the bookstore.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 
OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, hereby:
1.
Approves and authorizes the Mayor to execute the Agreement between the City of 
Tempe and the Friends of the Tempe Public Library for the management of Connections Café and 
the bookstore.
2.
Authorizes the Community Services Director or designee or the City Manager or 
designee to act as the agent of the City of Tempe to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit 
all documents, including, but not limited to, applications, agreements, amendments, billing 
statements, and any other necessary or desirable instruments in connection with the agreement.

ARIZONA, this 4th day of June, 2026.
