ACTION:  Adopt a resolution approving of and authorizing the Mayor to execute Addendum No. 8 to 
renew and extend the Intergovernmental Agreement between the Tempe Elementary School District 
No. 3 and the City of Tempe for the operation of the North Tempe Multi-Generational Center on Tempe 
School District Land (Cecil Shamley School). (Resolution No. R2026.61)
FISCAL IMPACT:  The Tempe Elementary School District No. 3 will pay the City of Tempe $12,000 
per year to administer a contract for landscape maintenance at the North Tempe Multi-Generational 
Center. Sufficient budget appropriations are in the planned fiscal year 2026/27 budget in the General 
Fund – Cost Center 2415 (North Tempe Community Center).
RECOMMENDATION:  Approve Resolution No. R2026.61.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  The City of Tempe entered into an intergovernmental agreement 
(IGA)(C2004-266) with Tempe School District No. 3 (TESD) on December 15, 2004, for the purpose of 
providing programs and services at the North Tempe Multi-Generational Center. The Center was built 
on land owned by the District at Cecil Shamley Elementary and serves many of the District’s students. 
The parties amended the IGA in 2017 to reflect the District’s agreement to pay the City $12,000 per year 
to administer a third-party contract for landscape maintenance at the Center. Prior to 2017, the District 
was responsible for maintaining the Center’s grounds. This Eighth Addendum extends the term of the 
IGA to June 15, 2029. This addendum will allow the City to continue its partnership with the TESD to 
enhance quality of life for Tempe residents.
