A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 
OF 
TEMPE, 
ARIZONA, 
APPROVING 
OF 
AND 
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE ADDENDUM 
NO. 
8 
TO 
RENEW 
AND 
EXTEND 
THE 
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE 
TEMPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 3 AND 
THE CITY OF TEMPE FOR THE OPERATION OF THE 
NORTH TEMPE MULTIGENERATIONAL CENTER ON 
TEMPE SCHOOL DISTRICT LAND (CECIL SHAMLEY 
SCHOOL).
WHEREAS, on or about December 15, 2004, the District and the City entered into an 
Intergovernmental Agreement (the “IGA”) to establish the terms and conditions for the 
construction, operation, and use of the North Tempe Multigenerational Center which is built on 
District property but owned by the City; and 
WHEREAS, the District and the City have amended the IGA over the course of the IGA, 
particularly by the First Addendum dated November 19, 2014, the Second Addendum dated 
August 19, 2015, the Third Addendum dated August 3, 2016, the Fourth Addendum dated 
September 6, 2017, the Fifth Addendum dated September 28, 2017, the Sixth Addendum dated 
May 27, 2020, and the Seventh Addendum dated June 16, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the District and the City agree that both parties derive benefit from the IGA, 
and they now desire to extend the term of the IGA for three additional years until June 15, 2029; 
and
WHEREAS, the City is authorized by A.R.S. § 11-951, et seq., and City Charter § 1.03 to 
enter into this Intergovernmental Agreement, and the City Council has authorized the Mayor to 
sign this Intergovernmental Agreement on behalf of the City; and 
WHEREAS, the District is authorized to enter into this Intergovernmental Agreement 
pursuant to A.R.S. § 11-952, 15-342(13) and 15-1142.  
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 
OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, hereby:
1. Approves of and authorizes the Mayor to sign Addendum No. 8 to the Intergovernmental 
Agreement between the Tempe Elementary School District #3 and the City of Tempe for the 
operation of the North Tempe Multi-Generational Center.
2. Authorizes the Community Services Director or their designee to execute and submit 
any additional documents relating to this Intergovernmental Agreement, including but not limited 
to amendments, addenda and any other necessary or desirable instruments.
