REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager or her designee to accept a grant from the 
Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) for the purchase of a PM-10 Certified Street Sweeper. 
(Resolution No. R2026.66)
FISCAL IMPACT: The amount of the grant award is $378,946. This grant award will supplement 
Transportation & Sustainability's existing Street Improvement - CIP Fund appropriation. Sufficient 
budget appropriations for expenditure of this grant will be authorized in the Street Improvement - CIP 
Fund (Fund 54) as part of the proposed fiscal year 2026-2027 budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Adopt Resolution No. R2026.66.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  The purpose of this request for Council action is to accept 
$378,946 in funding from the Maricopa Association of Governments for a street sweeper. On December 
3, 2025, the MAG Regional Council approved the Prioritized List of Proposed PM-10 Certified Street 
Sweepers for FY 2026 Congestion Mitigation Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) Funding. On January 8, 
2026, the City of Tempe received notification from MAG that the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air 
Quality Improvement funded street sweepers had been completed, and the prioritized list included the 
City of Tempe for funding of a new street sweeper for FY 2026.
