Action Team included 29 members representing multiple City departments, residents, nonprofit and community partners. Age-Friendly Community Feedback 6 weeks to complete the survey 5 in-person listening sessions 43 Attendees for listening sessions 317 older adults completed the survey 5 Survey Results: Key Findings Highlights 92% say it is very important to remain living independently at home as they age. 80% believe Tempe has well-maintained, safe public parks. 88% view Tempe as a positive place to live and age. Increase Awareness of Senior Resources 32% reported they turn to their senior center for classes/Workshops Improve Communication Methods & Accessing Information 52% stated they turn to local government for resources Engagement Opportunities 81% of respondents are concerned that rising costs of living may reduce their future standard of living. Growth Opportunities “Tempe is the best place I’ve ever lived, I wish I would have moved here sooner” 6 Age-Friendly Tempe 2026-2030 Action Plan encompasses 29 objectives over all eight domains of livability. 7 Age-Friendly Action Plan: Highlights Communication & Information Deliver timely, trusted information co-created with older adults and accessible across languages, literacy levels, and formats. Civic Participation & Employment Grow age-friendly pathways for paid work, entrepreneurship, civic leadership, and meaningful volunteer service. Housing Expand safe, affordable, and age-friendly housing options that support aging in place and housing stability for older adults. Outdoor Spaces and Buildings Create safe, inclusive, and universally accessible environments where older adults can confidently navigate, connect, and thrive. 8 Thank you for Your Support!
