REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Approve a one-year contract renewal with Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company 
for the purchase of life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, commuter/travel 
insurance, and for employee paid supplemental options.
FISCAL IMPACT:  The total cost for this contract will not exceed $450,000. Sufficient funds will be 
appropriated in the Health Fund, Cost Center 4167 (Employees), for the anticipated expenditure in the 
upcoming fiscal year. The above spend amount includes the combined costs for coverage provided by 
the City and employees who elect supplemental coverage.
RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the contract renewal.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  (T25-078-01) City Council awarded the contract on May 22, 2025 
for an initial one-year period with four, one-year renewal options.  This renewal is the first of four renewal 
options. This contract covers City provided life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment 
insurance, and commuter/travel insurance that allows for employee paid supplemental options.
