CITY OF TEMPE Meeting Date: 6/25/2026 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item: 7B9 ACTION: Approve the utilization of one-year City of Mesa cooperative contracts with Arizona West Builders and Communications, Inc. for communication tower equipment, repair and support services. FISCAL IMPACT: The total cost of these contracts will not exceed $300,000. Sufficient funds have been appropriated in the Capital Improvement Program, Project No. 6710569 (Network Cabling Replacement), and other City-wide cost centers as needed for anticipated expenditures during the current fiscal year and next fiscal year, contingent upon City Council approval of the City’s annual budget. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the utilization of the contract. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: (2025117) The City of Mesa competitively solicited and subsequently awarded a contract to Arizona West Builders and Communications, Inc. to provide a range of communication site and structure services, including, but not limited to, planned and unplanned tower climbing support, equipment replacement/removal, inspections, cable testing/sweeps, and bonding/grounding. The cooperative contract will be for the purchase of microwave communication equipment to maintain the reliability and capacity of our internal communications network. This equipment provides secure, high-speed, point-to-point wireless links between City facilities, supporting critical services such as data, voice, public safety systems, and operational technology.
