REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Adopt a resolution to accept and disburse a sub-grant award from Tempe Community Action 
Agency (TCAA) to support City of Tempe Community Health and Human Services Department heat 
relief efforts. (Resolution No. R2026.86)
FISCAL IMPACT:  The total amount of the sub-grant award from TCAA is $61,428.77. Funds will be 
used to support heat relief costs realized by the Community Health and Human Services Department. 
Sufficient budget appropriation for the expenditure of the sub-grant award was authorized in the 
Restricted Revenue and Donations Fund (Fund 44) as part of the Fiscal Year 2025/26 adopted budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Adopt Resolution No. R2026.86.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  On April 30, 2026, Tempe Community Action Agency (TCAA) 
notified the City of Tempe Community Health and Human Services Department (CHHS) of its intent to 
award CHHS with a sub-grant award in the amount of $61,428.77.
Awarded funds will be used to support City of Tempe heat relief efforts, including CHHS programs, 
services, and resources that protect vulnerable populations during the heat relief season. Use of the 
funds must comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the Arizona Department of Economic 
Security (DES).
