CITY OF TEMPE Meeting Date: 6/25/2026 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item: 8A1 ACTION: PUBLIC HEARING ITEM Introduce and hold the second and final public hearing to receive public comment on, and to adopt a resolution to authorize, the Annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Action Plan for Fiscal Year 2026- 2027, with approval of the funding activities and request authorization to proceed with all actions necessary or appropriate to implement and administer these plans. (Resolution No. R2026.84) FISCAL IMPACT: It is anticipated that the City will receive federal funding in the amount of $1,575,957 (annually) in CDBG funds. RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. R2026.84. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: To receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the City is required to hold public hearings and receive comments on the use of the funds. It is anticipated that the City will receive federal funding in the amount of $1,575,957 (annually) in CDBG funds. The funding associated with CDBG is a recurring formula-based grant from HUD subject to the regular restrictions imposed on these funds. The City is also required to approve the Annual Action Plan for Fiscal Year 2026-2027. Actions to administer the Annual Action Plan include issuing solicitations, entering into and/or amending any necessary contracts and agreements, acquiring and disposing of property, and reprogramming any prior year allocations.
