AMENDMENT TO THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT
BETWEEN
THE CITY OF SCOTTSDALE
AND
MARICOPA COUNTY
AND ADMINISTERED BY ITS
DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL CARE & CONTROL
This is Amendment (“Amendment”) number 1 to the financial Intergovernmental Agreement
(‘the original Agreement") effective July 1, 2022, between the City of Scottsdale ("City"),
a municipal corporation of the State of Arizona, and Maricopa County (“County”), a political
subdivision of the State of Arizona and administered by the Maricopa County Department
of Animal Care & Control. The City and the County may be referred to individually as the
“Party” or collectively as the “Parties.”
RECITALS
The City is authorized to enter this Amendment pursuant to A.R.S. § 11-952 and the
Scottsdale City Charter § 3-1, Article 1; and
The County is authorized to enter this Amendment by A.R.S. §§ 11- 201(A)(3), -952, and
-1005(a)(3); and
The City desires to continue to contract with the County for animal care and control to
provide for the health of the City and its community’s pets; and
The County maintains facilities, equipment, and trained personnel for the maintenance,
control, impoundment and/or destruction of unclaimed or vicious dogs and unclaimed
cats, the vaccination and licensing of dogs, for rabies control, and the enforcement of
animal ordinances; and
The Parties mutually desire to add six (6) enforcement patrols for the Sonoran McDowell
Preserve at a cost of $4,800 annually.
TERMS
In consideration of the mutual promises and obligations set forth herein, the Parties agree
as follows:
1. Allterms and clauses of the original Agreement remain in effect except as are specifically
modified herein.
2. This Amendment shall be effective and retroactive to July 1, 2022 (the Effective Date")
contingent on approval by the governing authorities of the Parties whether that approval
is given on, before, or after that date.

3. Revise Appendix B (‘Services’) of the original Agreement to add the following term to
number 11 to read:
The County will provide an additional six (6) enforcement [to equal a total of six
(6) annually] patrols coordinated with the City for the Sonoran McDowell
Preserve. The cost per patrol is calculated at $800 per patrol day which includes
hours spent within city limits to conduct the service.
4. This Amendment may be executed in two (2) or more counterparts, each of which shall be
deemed an original, but all of which together shall constitute one and the same instrument.
The signature pages from one (1) or more counterparts may be removed from such
counterparts and such signature pages are all attached to a single instrument so that the
signatures of all parties may be physically attached to a single document.
