Against Basis of Petition | am the owner of the home at 2109 W Nopal Ave in Mesa, AZ. My residence is directly behind the establish applying for a liquor license. Many years ago, there was a family restaurant in this location with reasonable hours and they were a courteous and respectful neighbor. There was never any issues with them, no safety, sound or trash issues. After that place left, Casa De Las Flores moved in and it became my worst nightmare. Not only was it impossible to sleep, it became difficult to LIVE behind the establishment. So a | een too became a problem as my renters complained, | delt with negative reviews and eventually lost the ability to rent my home out. The location is less than 50 feet behind my bedroom window. Sound and crowds and serious concerns. Having a liquor license in that location has cost me tremendously. Not just financially; with property value loss and loss of a rental income, but also severely in my health and well being. The intimate proximity to the location means the only possible establishment options for zoning considerations that will remain respectful and safe. Granting a liquor license to this location guarantees that Mesa Police will receive repeated calls, noise complaints and safety concerns that will need to be addressed. While there are other businesses behind my home none have ever been an issue. The only problems have been with the last one that held a liquor license. | beg you to not grant one again to this location. Having a loud sports bar next to a daycare and homes would be irresponsible. | am sure you are aware that O'Kelly's operates near by but is NOT as close to any homes sleeping quarters as 2050 W Guadalupe Rd and therefore does not cause the same concerns. Please do not jeopardize the health and safety of our neighborhood and the children and family's who reside here by granting the license for this location. Against The neighborhood directly to the north of 2050 W. Guadalupe Rd, suffered terribly from the previous business in this spot (La Casa de las Flores). Weekends were dreaded because of the noise from 10pm - 2am. Intoxicated patrons then sat in their cars and continued partying while restaurant staff repeatedly slammed the back door and then hung out in the back of the restaurant in the alley talking loudly and smoking. The weekend disturbances were the bane of the neighborhood because people couldn't sleep. A sports lounge/bar is even noisier than a regular bar as the noise spikes during games. The amplified sound, multiple TVs, and late-night crowds should not be adjacent to residential area. Please protect our community. We can't take more sleepless weekends.
