RESOLUTION NO. 12490
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MESA,
ARIZONA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT AMONG
THE CITY OF MESA, THE TOWN OF GILBERT, AND THE CITY OF
CHANDLER FOR THE DOWNSTREAM IMPACT STUDY RELATED
TO THE SALT RIVER PROJECT (SRP) – CENTRAL ARIZONA
PROJECT (CAP) INTERCONNECTION FACILITY.
Whereas, the Salt River Project (SRP) - Central Arizona Project (CAP) Interconnection Facility
(SCIF) Project goal is to enable SRP water to be pumped into the CAP canal.
Whereas, City of Mesa, Town of Gilbert, and City of Chandler are downstream water users of the
project and seek to evaluate the potential impact of the SCIF Project on their infrastructure.
Whereas, City of Mesa, Town of Gilbert, and City of Chandler seek and share the costs to engage
professional consultant WaterWorks Engineers to study water quality of the Salt River and Verde
River through the future SCIF Project to the municipalities’ treatment plants on the CAP canal.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MESA:
Section 1:
The Intergovernmental Agreement among the City of Mesa, Town of Gilbert, and
City of Chandler for a Downstream Impact Study related to the Salt River Project (SRP) – Central
Arizona Project (CAP) Interconnection Facility is hereby approved.
Section 2:
The City Manager or his designated representative is authorized and directed to
execute the Intergovernmental Agreement and any related amendments or supplements.
Section 3:
The various City officers and employees are authorized and directed to perform all
acts necessary to give effect to this Resolution.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Mesa on April 20, 2026.
