Housing and Community Development Advisory Board (HCDAB) Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026 Meeting Time: 6:00 p.m. Meeting Minutes The Housing and Community Development Advisory Board Members meet for a Regular meeting at City Hall – Study Session Room, 20 E. Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85201. Chair’s call to order Vice Chair LaGrant Jackson calls the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll call is completed. Board Members Habigail Nonthe Scott and Jacob Martinez are excused from today’s meeting. Warren Williams is unexcused. *2. Approval of minutes of previous meetings as written Minutes from Dec. 9, 2025, Special Board meeting. It is moved by Board Member Diane Yazzie Devine and second by Board Member Scott Kenji Garcia that the meeting minutes be approved. Upon Tabulation of votes, it shows: AYES – Devine, Garcia, Hurd, Jackson, Karantinos, Miller, Ranta, Thompson NAYS – None Carried unanimously. *3. Items from citizens present Members of the audience may address the Board on any item. State statute prohibits the Housing and Community Development Advisory Board (HCDAB) from discussing an item that is not on the agenda; however, the Board does listen to concerns and has staff follow up on any questions raised. Code Compliance A presentation by Angelica Guevara, Code Compliance Director, about the City of Mesa’s Code Compliance division and how they work with residents to promote safe neighborhoods by enforcing city codes, educating the public and encouraging compliance. The Housing and Community Development Advisory Board hears, reviews, and discusses the information given about Code Compliance division. *4-b. Historic Preservation A presentation by Matthew Kriegl, Historic Preservation Officer, about the City of Mesa’s Historic Preservation Office and how they preserve the city’s architectural, cultural, and historic heritage, while ensuring that significant places and structures are integrated into the city’s future development. The Housing and Community Development Advisory Board hears, reviews, and discusses the information about the Historic Preservation Office. *5. Adjournment Without objection, the Regular Housing and Community Development Advisory Board meeting is adjourned at 7:14 p.m. It is moved by Board Member Scott Kenji Garcia and seconded by Board Member Monica Thompson that the meeting be adjourned.
