The Fleet Services and Transportation Departments and Procurement Services recommend authorizing the purchase using the Sourcewell cooperative contract with MB Companies, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $293,942, based on estimated requirements. Background / Discussion The Transportation Department requires an additional paint striping truck to meet the increasing workload demands and ensure operational continuity. Having a second unit provides the necessary spare ratio, allowing work to continue uninterrupted when one truck is undergoing maintenance. For more than 25 years, the Transportation Department has been responsible for painting City roadways, parking lots, and recreational paths. The paint striping truck is a specialized vehicle designed to apply consistent, durable lane markings on City streets, pathways, and parking areas. Transportation evaluated three paint striping trucks and determined that the MB Companies, Inc. model is the most effective and user-friendly option based on its structure and ability to paint tight angles, radius and narrow roads. Additionally, it has free lifetime training included in the contract after initial training. The Sourcewell cooperative contract has been competitively bid and meets the City’s procurement requirements. Utilizing the Sourcewell contract allows the City to receive competitive rates based on a formally solicited agreement. The City believes the pricing is fair and reasonable and soliciting for this product would not result in the City receiving more favorable pricing or terms.
