RESOLUTION NO. 12471
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MESA,
MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA SUPPORTING THE SUBMITTAL OF
GRANT APPLICATIONS BY CITY OF MESA POLICE DEPARTMENT TO
THE ARIZONA GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY FOR
FEDERAL FISCAL YEAR 2027 GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF
$354,000.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MESA, MARICOPA
COUNTY, ARIZONA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Approving and authorizing and directing the City Manager, or designee, to
apply for and enter into Highway Safety Contracts, and any related amendments or supplements
thereto with the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for Federal Fiscal Year 2027 and
to accept up to $354,000 in funding. The Police Department is seeking funding for the following:
$160,000:
DUI Enforcement for overtime, materials, and supplies
$100,000:
Selective Traffic Enforcement Program for overtime and equipment
$ 30,000:
Motorcycle Safety for overtime
$ 40,000:
Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety for overtime and equipment
$ 12,000:
Occupant Protection for overtime and equipment
$ 12,000:
Collision Investigations Training for training for Department personnel
Section 2: The City Council supports these grants and authorizes approval by the City
Manager, or his designee, to apply for, accept and negotiate Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway
Safety Contracts, and any related amendments or supplements thereto for FY 2027, shall constitute
conclusive evidence of this City Council’s approval thereof.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Mesa, Maricopa County,
Arizona, this 9th day of February, 2026.
