Public Safety Funding Committee Charge

Review statutory framework to fund public safety facilities, including alternatives to current 
funding (i.e. property tax increase, jail district) and identify most viable option.

Review the promises made in prop 400 and 411 and the outcomes. 

Assess the existing adult and juvenile jail facilities, the current Jail Masterplan, and current Jail 
CIP to identify maintenance, capital, and expansion needs in the next twenty years.

Identify staffing needs, both short and long term.

Review probation and other recidivism programming and their impacts on public safety funding. 

Advise the Board concerning other issues, public concerns and matters of interest that may 
pertain to the planning and financing of jail facilities in Maricopa County.
