City of Apache Junction ee'4 Home of the Superstition Mountains DATE: JULY 7, 2026 TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS THROUGH: = BRYANT POWELL, CITY MANAGER FROM: MIKE LOGGINS, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR SUBJECT: ANNUAL SAFETY ROADEO, RESOLUTION NO. 26-30 Background Pinal County annually hosts the Safety Roadeo, a skills-based competition designed to promote the safe operation of heavy equipment and machinery used by public works professionals. Participants complete a series of tasks that simulate equipment operations performed during their daily job functions while demonstrating safe work practices, equipment proficiency and operational knowledge. The City of Apache Junction Public Works Department has participated in the Safety Roadeo on multiple occasions, with strong employee participation in recent years. Participation in the event provides employees with an opportunity to reinforce safe operating practices, enhance professional development, and share knowledge with public works personnel from other agencies throughout the region. Financial Impact There is no financial impact associated with participation in the Annual Safety Roadeo. Recommendation Staff recommends approval of Resolution No. 26-30 authorizing the Mayor to execute an Intergovernmental Agreement (“IGA") with Pinal County, allowing qualified City employees to participate in Pinal County's Annual Safety Roadeo.
