Hello Zachary, A couple of years ago my husband and I signed a petition to not license the outdoor yard / play area for Dogtopia located at 4901 S. Arizona Ave, in Chandler. We live in Southshore Village, the neighborhood to the east and north of the business complex that Dogtopia is located. At the time, some neighbors that we are friends with asked us to sign the petition. Their reason was that it could smell bad and we might hear dogs barking all the time. In fact, we have never once smelled anything like dogs or related smells, and we have never heard dog barking or dog sounds coming from the business, even if we are spending time in the greenbelt park directly behind the business. The only business we do smell are the restaurants: Moreno's Mexican Grill and Blue32, and those are not bothersome. Fast forward to today. I'm now a happy customer at Dogtopia; I value their service and close location. They are well insulated for sound and extremely clean; they do a great job and take safety very seriously. I felt like I should let you know for future consideration of their permits, and because my husband and I had signed that petition before they opened without knowing how Dogtopia would manage the noise and smell concerns. It has been brought to my attention that Dogtopia of South Chandler is currently seeking approval to extend their outdoor play area. As a nearby neighbor of Dogtopia as well as a regular customer of Dogtopia, I am in full support of this initiative. I truly believe that this outdoor play area is essential for the beloved pets within our community. Initially when Dogtopia was seeking their permit for their outdoor play area in 2019, we signed the petition against Dogtopia and their outdoor play area. Because we live in close proximity to the business, we were concerned about the potential for regular barking and such for extended periods of the day. This has not been an issue at all. In hindsight, we have had nothing to worry about as Dogtopia conducts themselves in a professional manner. Since 2019, we have become customers of Dogtopia. Through our interactions with Michael and Susan as well as their extended Dogtopia staff, their love, care, and support for the family pets within our community is second to none. Their level of professionalism and the services they provide for our cherished pets is outstanding. The outdoor play area is a large part of their successful business and the enriching services they provide. Our golden retriever, Waffles, has had many fulfilling stays at Dogtopia that closely resembles her home life. A large part of her fulfilment is the ability to use the outdoor play area, dogs need to socialize and have access to outdoor spaces, especially when they are in the care of others. Well balanced and cared for dogs are an important part of a safe community. 2 Just as a local park or neighborhood school serve as the center of our community, wonderfully run business such as Dogtopia can be held in a similar regard because of their provided services as well as their level of strong customer service and dedication to the neighborhood. Dogtopia attracts many families and pets within the area, please support Dogtopia and the pets within our South Chandler community by allowing the extension of their permit for their outdoor play area. Over the past year Dogtopia has been a huge help and a much needed support in keeping our two 80 pound dogs happy and healthy. It ensures our dogs physical and mental needs are met with both exercise and socialization. Particularly, during this past year due to the pandemic both my wife and I have been working from home with our 5 year old daughter. Dogtopia has been a great resource. I had originally signed the petition against the outdoor play area, and after the help that Dogtopia has provided I am in support of extending the outside play area permit. I feel it is an essential part of providing healthy exercise to our dogs. Again, Dogtopia has been an essential part of our routine and provided a highly valued service to my family. They are professional and take pride in their business. I feel they have created a hugely positive impact to our community and for our family it is critical to support the efforts of local businesses. A local business who provide not only a service but also jobs to local residents. In a challenging year Dogtopia have worked hard to retain staff and adapt their business model to support their customers and greater community.
