Resolution 5513 TRT and HZM Training with Phoenix Fire

RESOLUTION NO. 5513

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER,
ARIZONA, APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHANDLER AND THE CITY OF PHOENIX FOR
FIRE SERVICE TRAINING.

WHEREAS, Chandler Fire Department (“CFD”) and the City of Phoenix (“Phoenix”) desire to
enter into an intergovernmental agreement (“IGA”) for fire service training; and

WHEREAS, the City is authorized and empowered to enter into IGA for the provision of services,
or for joint or cooperative action, pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute §11-952; and

WHEREAS, agreements for mutual assistance and intergovernmental cooperation in public safety
areas, including operations and management of fire and police, or the public safety related agencies
have existed between municipalities and governmental jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City to work with other fire departments participating in
emergency and fire services, to work together for the mutual benefit of the public; and

WHEREAS, CFD desires to partner with the City of Phoenix Fire Department Fire Service for the
provision of fire service training including Aircraft Rescue Firefighter certification, Firefighter
Recruit training, Fire Inspector Training, Hazardous Material Technical training, as well as other
necessary training and continuing education.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona
as follows:

Section 1. Adopts the Agreement as attached hereto by the City of Chandler.

Section 2. Authorizes the City Manager, or designee, to sign the attached Agreement and
perform all acts necessary to give effect to this Resolution.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, this
day of September, 2021.
