RESOLUTION NO. 5516 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, ARIZONA, AFFIRMS THE INTENT TO USE AWARDED FUNDS IN THE MANNER DESCRIBED WITHIN THE SUBMITTED APPLICATION FOR AN INDIAN GAMING REVENUE SHARING GRANT TO THE GILA RIVER INDIAN COMMUNITY ON BEHALF OF THE CHANDLER FIRE DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $42,971.74. WHEREAS, pursuant to A.R.S. §5-601.02, Indian tribes entering into a tribal-state gaming compact shall contribute monies to" ... cities, towns and counties ... for government services that benefit the general public, including public safety, mitigation of gaming impacts, and promotion of commerce and economic development"; and WHEREAS, those Indian tribes entering into a tribal-state gaming compact have various grant application procedures for evaluating which cities, towns and counties, and which government services, will receive gaming revenue sharing contributions pursuant to A.R.S. §5-601.02; and WHEREAS, the City of Chandler, through the Fire Department, has submitted projects to be considered for funding by the Gila River Indian Community; and WHEREAS, the Chandler Fire Department requested that the City Council authorize the submission of an application in March 2021 for such Indian gaming revenue sharing grant funding to the Gila River Indian Community in the amount of $42,971.74 to obtain equipment and software to conduct virtual tactical fire operations training, as more specifically described in the application materials prepared by the City of Chandler to be submitted to the Gila River Indian Community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, as follows: Section 1. Affirms the intent of the City of Chandler to use the awarded funds in the manner described within the grant application. Section 2. Authorizes the City Manager, or his designee, to sign all related documents on behalf of the City of Chandler, and perform all acts necessary to give effect to this Resolution.
