RESOLUTION NO. 5517 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, ADOPTING AN UPDATED “CHANDLER AIRPARK AREA 
PLAN,” ESTABLISHING RECOMMENDED FUTURE LAND USES AND 
CONCEPTUAL DESIGN GUIDELINES ON PROPERTY SURROUNDING 
THE CHANDLER MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, MORE SPECIFICALLY THE 
AREA BOUNDED BY LOOP 202 SANTAN FREEWAY, GILBERT ROAD, 
OCOTILLO ROAD, AND ARIZONA AVENUE.  
 
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ariz. Rev. Stat. § 9-461.08, a municipality may adopt specific area plans 
that regulate land development within the area specified in the plan; and  
 
WHEREAS, in November 1998 the Chandler City Council adopted Resolution 2946, creating the 
Chandler Airpark Area Plan for the purpose of promoting economic development within the nine 
square miles surrounding the Chandler Municipal Airport; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Chandler City Council finds that it is essential for the economic health of the City 
that future land use development within the area be compatible with existing and future Airport 
operations while creating employment opportunities; and  
 
WHEREAS, the Chandler City Council finds that updating the Chandler Airpark Area Plan to 
clarify recommended future land uses and conceptual design standards will improve the City’s 
economic well-being by promoting job creation and sustaining the economic growth of the 
Chandler Municipal Airport; and 
 
WHEREAS, the update will reduce the boundaries of the Chandler Airpark Area Plan to a total of 
7.35 square miles by eliminating the area between Pecos Road and the Loop 202 Santan Freeway 
from Arizona Avenue to Gilbert Road, because a majority of that land has developed; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City sought public input on the area plan update through a variety of means, 
including focus groups, briefings before the Airport Commission, an online survey, community 
meetings, and a public hearing before the Planning and Zoning Commission pursuant to Ariz. Rev. 
Stat. § 9-461.09; and 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
Adopting the updated “Chandler Airpark Area Plan,” as published on the 
City’s website at chandleraz.gov/ChandlerAirparkAreaPlan, a hard copy of 
which is on file with the City Clerk’s office under the document titled “2021 
Chandler Airpark Area Plan.” 
 
Section 2. 
Rescinding and replacing the previous Chandler Airpark Area Plan as adopted 
by Resolution 2946 and as amended thereafter.

Section 3. 
Authorizing staff to publish and maintain the Chandler Airpark Area Plan on 
the City’s website in digital format.
