RESOLUTION NO. 5524 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE ARIZONA 
DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR THE 2021 URBAN AREA 
SECURITY INITIATIVE ASSESSMENT TEAMS – FIRE TERRORISM 
LIAISON OFFICERS FOR EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING IN THE AMOUNT 
OF $4,750. 
 
WHEREAS, the Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS) through the 2021 State 
Homeland Security Grant Program provides financial assistance directly to fire departments to 
ensure that they are prepared and equipped to respond to large scale emergencies, terrorist events 
and disasters; and  
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler Fire Department (CFD) established a Rapid Response Team 
and Terrorism Liaison Officer program in 2003 with federal funding from the AZDOHS; and  
 
WHEREAS, CFD submitted a request for grant funding to the AZDOHS for the 2021 Urban 
Area Assessment Teams – Fire Terrorism Liaison Officers; and 
 
WHEREAS, AZDOHS has informed CFD that it is eligible for $4,750, with no matching funds 
requirement; and 
 
WHEREAS, CFD has determined that it can comply with the terms of the Grant Application 
Agreement.   
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona 
as follows:           
 
 
Section 1. 
Accepts the 2021 Urban Area Assessment Teams – Fire Terrorism Liaison 
Officers funding from AZDOHS in the amount of $4,750, and shall comply with 
the Grant Agreement requirements. 
 
Section 2. 
Authorizes the Fire Chief, or designee, to take such actions necessary to 
implement the provisions of the Grant Agreement.
