RESOLUTION NO. 5525 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE ARIZONA 
DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR THE 2021 URBAN AREA 
SECURITY INITIATIVE ENHANCED RAPID RESPONSE FIRE TEAMS FOR 
EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING IN THE AMOUNT OF $108,941. 
 
WHEREAS, the Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS) through the 2021 State 
Homeland Security Grant Program provides financial assistance directly to fire departments to 
ensure that they are prepared and equipped to respond to large scale emergencies, terrorist events 
and disasters; and  
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler Fire Department (CFD) established a Rapid Response Team and 
Terrorism Liaison Officer program in 2003 with federal funding from AZDOHS and the grant 
funds would provide for Enhanced Rapid Response Fire Team Training; and  
 
WHEREAS, CFD submitted a request for grant funding to AZDOHS for additional training for 
CFD’s Rapid Response Fire Team; and 
 
WHEREAS, AZDOHS has informed CFD that it is eligible for $108,941 with no matching 
requirement; and 
 
WHEREAS, CFD has determined that it can comply with the terms of the Grant Application 
Agreement requirements. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona 
as follows:           
 
 
Section 1. 
Accepts the Enhanced Rapid Response Fire Teams grant funds from AZDOHS in 
the amount of $108,941, and the Grant Agreement requirements associated with 
such grant. 
 
Section 2. 
Authorizes the Fire Chief, or designee, to take such actions necessary to implement 
the provisions of the Grant Agreement.
