Meeting Minutes City Council Regular Meeting November 1, 2021 | 6:00 p.m. Chandler City Council Chambers 88 E. Chicago St., Chandler, AZ Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kevin Hartke at 6:02 p.m. Roll Call Council Attendance Appointee Attendance Mayor Kevin Hartke Joshua Wright, Acting City Manager Vice Mayor Mark Stewart Debra Stapleton, Assistant City Manager Councilmember OD Harris Dawn Lang, Deputy City Manager/ CFO Councilmember Terry Roe Kelly Schwab, City Attorney Councilmember René Lopez Dana DeLong, City Clerk Councilmember Christine Ellis Councilmember Matt Orlando Invocation The invocation was given by Pastor Keith Shepard, Church of Christ. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilmember Lopez. Consent Agenda and Discussion City Clerk 1. October 2021 City Council Meeting Minutes Move City Council approve the Council Meeting minutes of the Special Meeting - Budget Kickoff of October 11, 2021; Regular Meeting of October 11, 2021; Study Session of October 11, 2021; Work Session of October 14, 2021; Special Meeting of October 14, 2021; Regular Meeting of October 14, 2021; and the Special Meeting of October 25, 2021. City Manager Page 2 of 3 2. Final Adoption of Ordinance No. 4991, Establishing a Military and Veterans Affairs Commission Move City Council adopt Ordinance No. 4991, forming a Military and Veterans Affairs Commission. COUNCILMEMBER LOPEZ stated that the establishment of the Military and Veterans Affairs Commission is a great opportunity for veterans to show their continued commitment and support of the community and the City. He encouraged veterans who are interested in being involved in the commission, to visit the City Clerk’s website to submit their application. MAYOR HARTKE mentioned that it is the intent to vote on the membership at the December meeting. COUNCILMEMBER HARRIS echoed the same sentiment as Councilmember Lopez and expressed his excitement for the commission that focuses on veterans, ensuring representation of the veteran community in the City. He added that this is another way that the City displays diversity, equity, and inclusion. MAYOR HARTKE commented that there were more applications received than open seats. He said that members selected for the commission will participate in initiatives and other things set forth by the commission. Consent Agenda Motion and Vote Councilmember Lopez moved to approve the Consent Agenda of the November 1, 2021, Regular City Council Meeting; Seconded by Councilmember Roe. Motion carried unanimously (7-0).
