DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COMMISSION Chandler City Council Chambers Conference Room 88 East Chicago Street Chandler, Arizona Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. Pursuant to Resolution No. 4464 of the City of Chandler and to A.R.S. 38-431.02, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the members of the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COMMISSION and to the general public that the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COMMISSION will hold a meeting open to the public on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 9:00 a.m., at the Chandler City Council Chambers Conference Room, 88 East Chicago Street, Chandler, AZ. (Agendas are available in the Office of the City Clerk, 175 S. Arizona Avenue.) Persons with a disability may request a reasonable accommodation such as a sign language interpreter by contacting the City Clerk's office at (480) 782-2181 (711 via AZRS). APPROVAL OF MINUTES a. MOTION by Commissioner Knape to approve minutes from October 13, 2021. SECONDED by Commissioner Lynn. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY 3. SCHEDULED/UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC APPEARANCES/CALL TO PUBLIC (Members of the audience may address any item not on the agenda. State Statute prohibits the Domestic Violence Commission from discussing an item that is not on the agenda, but the Domestic Violence Commission does listen to your concerns and has staff follow up on any questions you raise.) a. Introduction of Chandler Police staff & Ashley Webb 4. ACTION AGENDA a. Move to appoint new Chair for Domestic Violence Commission. Nominations of Vice Chair Grieve, Commissioners Gannon, Lynn and Knape. Decline by nominees Grieve, Gannon and Lynn. Motion by Chair Hinchey to appoint Commissioner Knape as Chair for Domestic Violence Commission. Seconded by Commissioner Lim. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY b. Move to approve Domestic Violence Commission to participate in outreach – using informational and community education activities to promote healthy relationships. Motion by Chair Hinchey to approve Domestic Violence Commission to participate in the Multi-Cultural Festival on January 15, 2022. and for meeting with Chandler students for the National Teen Violence Awareness Month. Seconded by Commissioner Curtis. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY c. Move to provide social media postings regarding health relationships throughout the year. Motion by Chair Hinchey to provide social media postings regarding health relationships throughout the year – through the Chandler Police Facebook page. Second by Commissioner Curtis. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY 5. MEMBERS COMMENTS / ANNOUNCEMENTS Peer Support training is available at Southwest Network. A new site has opened in Chandler for Arizona’s Children Association. Ads will be going out with a “wish list” for My Sister’s Place Shelter. Pinal County now has three Family Advocacy Centers. Community Legal Services will be moving to a physical location in the coming year. Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence is having more in-person events and trainings. Domestic Violence training from Dec 6-10, 2021 and still has openings. Still working on pet welfare in domestic violence situations. Funds are available for domestic violence situations.
