Resolution 5567

RESOLUTION NO. 5567 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO APPLY TO THE ARIZONA STATE 
HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICE FOR INCLUSION OF THE CITY INTO 
THE CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROGRAM. 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler adopted Ordinance 4936 on November 2, 2020, for the purpose 
of establishing the City’s historic preservation program; and 
 
WHEREAS, Ordinance 4936 encourages the preservation of the City’s historic architectural and 
cultural resources; and 
 
WHEREAS, Ordinance 4936 positions the City to enroll in the Certified Local Government 
Program (the “Program”) established by the United States Congress through the National Historic 
Preservation Act of 1980; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Program is administered by the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office which 
makes the City eligible for grant funding to support historic preservation efforts; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Program provides for City recommendations on historic resources proposed for 
the National Register of Historic Places in the City; and 
 
WHEREAS, an application must be made to the State Historic Preservation Office for inclusion 
into the Program. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
Authorize City staff to apply to the State Historic Preservation Office for inclusion 
 
of the City into the Certified Local Government Program.
