Resolution No. 5570 Recommending the Continuation of the Local Alternative Expenditure
Limitation – Home Rule Option
Move City Council pass and adopt Resolution No. 5570 recommending the continuation of
the Local Alternative Expenditure Limitation – Home Rule Option. In addition, recommend
the Local Alternative Expenditure Limitation – Home Rule Option be submitted to the voters
of the City of Chandler at the primary election scheduled for August 2, 2022.
Action Agenda Motion and Vote
Councilmember Stewart moved to pass and adopt Resolution No. 5570 recommending the
continuation of the Local Alternative Expenditure Limitation – Home Rule Option. In addition,
recommend the Local Alternative Expenditure Limitation – Home Rule Option be submitted to the

voters of the City of Chandler at the primary election scheduled for August 2, 2022; Seconded by
Vice Mayor Roe.
Motion carried unanimously (7-0).
Current Events
Mayor’s Announcements
MAYOR HARTKE said that Governor Ducey signed a bill that allows municipalities to prohibit the
use of permissible consumer fireworks on certain late evenings to early morning hours. Staff has
begun research into implementing the law as it becomes effective.
MAYOR HARTKE invited the public to the Chandler Fire Department’s annual Fire Walk Fire Alarm
Installation on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Galveston Elementary School.
He thanked Arizona Burn Foundation for donating supplies.
MAYOR HARTKE announced the Chandler Jazz Festival on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2, in
Downtown Chandler.
MAYOR HARTKE shared that the Chandler Family Bike ride along Paseo Trail will be on Saturday,
April 9, with the ride beginning at 9:00 a.m. Register online to join.
Council’s Announcements
VICE MAYOR ROE recognized those who attended the meeting for being active in their
community. He also recognized Chandler’s public safety professionals for their continuous work.
He congratulated Terri Kimble, president of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, the Board of
Directors, staff, and volunteers for the success of the Ostrich Festival the previous two
weekends.
COUNCILMEMBER STEWART affirmed the success of the Ostrich Festival.
COUNCILMEMBER ELLIS mentioned the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, available to
residents to help file federal income tax. Chandler is partnering with Mesa United Way to
provide assistance at several locations operating through Thursday, April 14.
City Manager’s Announcements
JOSH WRIGHT, City Manager, introduced and welcomed John Sefton, Community Services
Director.
