REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
JUNE 14, 2022
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Chair Dalpe called the meeting to order on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 5:01 p.m.

2. ACTION AGENDA
a. Approval of the Minutes of the Military and Veterans Affairs Commission
Regular Meeting of May 10, 2022
Chair Dalpe requested a motion for approval of the minutes for the May 10,
2022, Military and Veterans Affairs Commission meeting. Vice-Chair Facciponti
made the motion to approve the minutes of the May 10, 2022, minutes.
Commissioner Waltzer seconded the motion.
The minutes were approved 6-0 by all Commission members present.

b. Approval of the Language on the Storyboards for the Veteran’s Memorial
Andy Bass, Deputy City Manager, presented the language being considered for
the storyboards for the United States Public Health Commissioned Corps, the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Office Corps,
and the United States Merchant Marines. Chair Dalpe requested a motion to
table the approval until the next meeting on July 12, 2022, until corrections to the
language can be reviewed. Commissioner Levinson made the motion to table
the approval of the language until the next regular meeting on July 12, 2022.
Commissioner Simon seconded the motion.
The decision to table the motion until the July 12, 2022, regular meeting was
approved 6-0 by all Commission members present.
c. Approval of the Military and Veterans Affairs Commission Strategic Action
Plan for 2022-23
Chair Dalpe requested a motion for approval of the Military and Veterans Affairs
Commission Strategic Action Plan for 2022-23. Commission Walter made the
motion to approve the Military and Veterans Affairs Commission Strategic Action
Plan for 2022-23. Vice-Chair Facciponti seconded the motion.
The motion was approved 6-0 by all Commission members present.
3. DISCUSSION
a. City of Chandler proposed Budget Line for Military and Veterans Affairs
Commission
Mr. Bass explained that City Council would look at approving a one-time funding
of $10,000 for the Commission through the Community Services Department at
next week’s City Council meeting. Discussion ensued.
b. Recognition of the Merchant Marines at the Field of Honor at Veterans
Oasis Park
This item was previously discussed and resolved. No other discussion ensued.
c. Veteran’s Day Event
No updates.

d. Town Hall Event for Chandler Veterans
No updates.
e. Service Recognition – Newly Enlisted and Retired Service Members
No updates.
4. MEMBER COMMENTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
a. Vice-Chair Facciponti informed the Commission that the 2nd Annual Military
Mental Resilience Fair will be held on event on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 1260 S.
Spectrum Blvd., 85286 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

b. Next meeting will be Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.

With no further items, Chair Dalpe requested a motion to adjourn the meeting at
