RESOLUTION NO. 5623 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, APPROVING A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED 
STATES 
DEPARTMENT 
OF 
HOMELAND 
SECURITY 
FEDERAL 
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 
2021 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT (AFG) AND AUTHORIZING 
THE ACCEPTANCE OF AFG GRANT FUNDS AND CONTRIBUTION OF 
NON-FEDERAL FUNDS.  
 
WHEREAS, the objective of FEMA’s Assistance Firefighters Grant (AFG) program is to provide 
funding directly to fire departments, nonaffiliated emergency medical services organizations, and 
state fire training academies for the purpose of protecting the health and safety of the public and 
first responder personnel against fire and fire-related hazards; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler Fire Department (CFD) submitted an application for AFG 
funding to FEMA; and 
 
WHEREAS, FEMA has informed CFD that it has been approved for $963,400 in federal funding 
with a required contribution from the City of Chandler of non-federal funds equal to or greater 
than 10% of the federal funds awarded, or $96,340 for a total approved budget of $1,059,740; and   
 
WHEREAS, CFD has determined that it can comply with the terms of the Grant Agreement and 
use the awarded funds in the manner described in the grant. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
Approving the Grant Agreement with FEMA and authorizing the acceptance of the 
AFG funds from FEMA in the amount of $963,400.  
 
Section 2. 
Authorizing the contribution of non-federal funds to the grant award equal to or 
great than 10% of the federal funds awarded, or $96,340 for a total approved budget 
of $1,059,740. 
 
Section 3. 
Authorizing the Fire Chief, or his designee, to take such actions necessary to 
implement the provisions of the Grant Application Agreement and perform all acts 
necessary to give effect to this Resolution.
