Domestic Violence Commission MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, October 12, 2022 MINUTES OF THE regular Meeting of the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, ARIZONA, held in the City of Chandler Council Chambers Conference Room, 88 E. Chicago St., Chandler, Arizona, on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 14, 2022, REGULAR MEETING OF THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COMMISSION Motion by Commissioner Gannon Seconded by Commissioner Hinchey MOTION - CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, October 12, 2022 Page 2 of 2 DISCUSSION 2. Domestic Violence Event 2022 – Venue was great with room to grow. Resource tables were very busy giving information. Boys & Girls Club art was well received and was given to Operations Shockwave. Thank you notes will be sent to the Resource Contacts by Chair Grieve. Chandler High JROTC and the Shoes were great. Hours of 10-12 worked out well. Suggestion to have DV Commission member contact the speaker priors to event and have written expectations and guidelines for the speaker. And require practice of the speech with the ACESDV Coalition Share Program prior to the event. Possibly put disclosure on the invite saying that the speaker not necessarily shares the views of the DV Commission. Katie Cain will bring total number of people attending the event to the next meeting. EventBrite does not send prior invites, we may want to consider a different type of invite for next year. 3. Community Outreach Subcommittee – Chandler Unified School District staff were very receptive and would also like us at the middle schools. They are open to having us throughout the year, not just the month of February to talk about healthy relationships. We will be talking to social workers and art teachers. Possibly do healthy relationships/art to partnership with Field of Hope. We may need to decide what we will do with tables at the schools. The wheel, treasure box and candy seemed be a draw for those age groups. We may have a November sign up sheet for Jan-May school events. 4. Exchange Club’s Field of Hope – April 16-21, 2023 – planning will be made with the city for planting flags. Opening ceremony will be on a Sunday at sunset. Possibly have art from the schools added to the event. They would like to have a table at the event during the day. If DV Commission is supporting the event, DV Commissioners need to attend the event.
