MILITARY & VETERAN’S AFFAIRS COMMISSION 
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 
OCTOBER 11, 2022 
 
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL 
Chair Dalpe called the meeting to order on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. 
 
Members in Attendance:

Commissioner Nancy Dunn 
Commissioner Carol Farabee (left at 5:30 p.m.) 
Commissioner Shane Levinson  
Commissioner David Waltzer (arrived at 5:05 p.m.)

Andy Bass, Assistant Deputy Director 
Thomas Allen, Assistant City Attorney

2. ACTION AGENDA 
 
a. Approval of the Minutes of the Military and Veterans Affairs Commission 
Regular Meeting of September 13, 2022  
 
Chair Dalpe requested a motion for approval of the minutes for the September 
13, 2022, Military and Veterans Affairs Commission meeting.  Commissioner 
Levinson made the motion to approve the minutes of the September 13, 2022, 
minutes.  Vice-Chair Facciponti seconded the motion. 
 
 
The minutes were approved 6-0 by all Commission members present.

b. Selection of a Liaison for the “For Our City Organization” 
Chair Dalpe requested a motion for Commissioner Dunn to become the Liaison 
for the For Our City Organization.  Commissioner Waltzer made the motion for 
Commissioner Dunn to become the Liaison for the For Our City Organization.  
Vice-Chair Facciponti seconded the motion. 
 
 
The motion was approved 6-0 by all Commission members present.  
 
3. DISCUSSION 
 
a. Commission Member Representatives at Veteran’s Day’s Events 
 
Mr. Bass had been asked by City Council to see if any Commissioners would be 
able to represent Chandler at upcoming Veteran’s Day’s Events.  Chair Dalpe 
responded that all Commissioners would be attending various events on that 
day.  Commissioner Walter responded that being a new commission, some 
attendance at City events would be important.  Discussion ensued. 
 
b. Update – Veteran’s Day Event, November 11, 2022, 7:00 p.m. 
 
Mr. Bass shared an update on the Veteran’s Day Event.  The event flyer was 
shared with the Commission.  The event will have three speakers, bagpipes from 
the Fire Department will be performing, and the Color and Honor Guards will be 
present.  Discussion ensued. 
 
c. Spring Veteran’s Event 
 
Chair Dalpe asked if Commissioner Levinson would be able to reach out to the 
school board and garner support of the event.   
 
d. Update – Town Hall Event for Chandler Veterans, December 3, 2022 
 
Vice-Chair Facciponti will be needing assistance with marketing the event.  
Discussion ensued. 
 
e. Service Recognition Event 
 
No update. 
 
f.  Calendar of other City Commission/Committee Events

Discussion of a calendar to keep both City Board and Commission events with 
events being attended by the Commission was discussed.  Chair Dalpe and 
Commissioner Waltzer will meet offline with Ms. Sandy Popovich, Secretary for 
the Military and Veterans Affairs Commission to discuss the calendar further. 
 
4. MEMBER COMMENTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS 
 
a. Vice-Chair Facciponti shared that her meeting with Jean Reynolds regarding a 
speaker for the “Our Stories” event was postponed until next week.   
 
5. SCHEDULED/UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC APPEARANCES 
 
a. None. 
 
6. CALENDAR ITEMS  
 
a.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. 
 
 
7. ADJOURNMENT
