REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
NOVEMBER 8, 2022
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Chair Dalpe called the meeting to order on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at 5:00
p.m.

2. ACTION AGENDA
a. Approval of the Minutes of the Military and Veterans Affairs Commission
Regular Meeting of October 11, 2022
Chair Dalpe requested a motion for approval of the minutes for the October 11,
2022, Military and Veterans Affairs Commission meeting. Commissioner
Waltzer made the motion to approve the minutes of the October 11, 2022,
minutes. Commissioner Levinson seconded the motion.

The minutes were approved 7-0 by all Commission members present.
3. DISCUSSION
a. Domestic Violence Commission Presentation – Vice-Chair Teri Lynn
Vice-Chair Teri Lynn, from The Domestic Violence Commission for the City of
Chandler presented to the Commission. The Domestic Violence Commission
acts as an advisory board to Mayor and Council. Other responsibilities include:
•
Promotes a clear understanding of domestic violence, current
laws, and resources available in the community.
•
Facilitates an effective community-wide system of prevention and
intervention that is responsive to the needs of domestic violence victims
•
Identifies and promote the coordination of the roles and services of local
agencies or offices that provide services to domestic violence victims
•
Acts as a forum for communication, education, and dialogue with Chandler
residents on domestic violence issues
b. Update – Consolidated Calendar of City and Commission Events
It was determined that City protocols would not allow for a virtual calendar to be
administered by the Veteran’s Commission due to protection issues within the
City. Lucy Vazquez, the Commission Secretary will provide calendar information
to the Commission directly in 3-month intervals. Discussion ensued.
c. Update – Veteran’s Day Event, November 11, 2022, 7:00 p.m.
Vice-Chair Facciponti provided the final schedule for the event. Mr. Bass
provide an update for the preparations for the Veteran’s Day Event on November
11, 2022. Discussion ensued.
d. Update – Town Hall Event for Chandler Veterans, December 3, 2022
Vice-Chair Facciponti requested assistance with getting panel members for the
event. Mr. Andy Bass, Assistant Deputy Director, shared that the coffee mugs will
be available to hand-out to attendees. The online RSVP link for the event will be
ready shortly for attendees. Discussion ensued.
e. Service Recognition Event

4. MEMBER COMMENTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
Commission Levinson offered his availability to any upcoming Veteran’s Events.
5. SCHEDULED/UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC APPEARANCES
a. Bill Rogitz attended the meeting and shared his involvement with various
veteran’s activities including Hospice for Arizona Life and the Veteran Advocate
for Veteran’s Action Alliance. His group assists veterans in need.
6. CALENDAR ITEMS
a. The next meeting will be Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.
7. ADJOURNMENT
With no further items, Vice-Chair Facciponti adjourned the meeting at 5:36 p.m.
