RESOLUTION NO. 5645 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT (IGA) BETWEEN THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ADOT) AND THE CITY OF CHANDLER FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND ASSOCIATED MAINTENANCE OF ADOT’S LOOP 202 (PRICE ROAD TO VAL VISTA DRIVE) FREEWAY WIDENING PROJECT WHEREAS, ADOT is constructing improvements to Loop 202 between Price Road and Val Vista Drive, which will include adding two lanes in each direction from Price Road to Gilbert Road and one lane from Gilbert Road to Val Vista Drive, with construction estimated to begin in 2024; and WHEREAS, this project will include improvements to Price Road, Dobson Road, Alma School Road, Arizona Avenue, McQueen Road, Cooper Road, and Gilbert Road near freeway interchanges; and WHEREAS, this project will include additional work requested by the City, including aesthetic painting and expanded areas of roadway surface treatments; and WHEREAS, the City has an interest in keeping arterial streets and sidewalks in a state of good repair and in being able to respond quickly to resident requests regarding arterial street conditions; and WHEREAS, after the City’s final acceptance of this project, and consistent with ADOT’s process for arterial street right-of-way following the construction of freeway improvements, ADOT will abandon and transfer ownership, jurisdiction, and maintenance responsibilities of certain right-of- way to the City as set forth in more detail in the IGA. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, as follows: Section 1. Approving the Intergovernmental Agreement (ADOT contract no. 21-0008107-I) between ADOT and the City of Chandler. Section 2. Authorizing the Mayor to sign and execute the IGA on behalf of the City of Chandler. Section 3. Authorizing the expenditure of public funds in an estimated amount of $486,200 for aesthetic painting and additional roadway resurfacing work as requested, inspected, and approved by the City of Chandler. Section 4. Accepting right-of-way dedicated to the City of Chandler by ADOT upon completion of the project and acceptance of the condition of said right-of-way by the City of Chandler.
