1. January 2023 Museum Foundation Board Meeting Minutes
Martin Sepulveda made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from January 17,
2023.
Joan Clark seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (7-0). The minutes
were approved as written.

Action Agenda
2. Approve Moving Date of June 2023 Museum Foundation Board Meeting
Brenda Abney made a motion to move the June 2023 Museum Foundation Board
Meeting from Monday, June 19, 2023, to Tuesday, June 20, 2023, due to the
Juneteenth Holiday.
Calvenea Malloy seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (7-0).
3. Approve Payment for Silk Stocking Neighborhood Video
Martin Sepulveda made a motion to approve payment for the Silk Stocking
Neighborhood Video with the amendment to pay the full invoice amount of $5,400,
from the original discussion amount of a $5,000 payment.
Joan Clark seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (7-0), with the
amended amount of $5,400.
The video was originally sanctioned by the Chandler Historical Society to memorialize
the historic neighborhood. Due to the pandemic and the main interviewee becoming
ill, the completion of the video was delayed.
The video has been completed, and the final bill came to $5,400.
Josh Askey inquired if the Foundation own the rights to the video.
o Jody Crago replied it has become a part of the Museum’s Collection.
Briefing
4. Tumbleweed Ranch Masterplan Presentation
Philip Weddle of Weddle Gilmore Architects shared a presentation of the
Tumbleweed Ranch Conceptual Master Plan.
Tumbleweed Ranch will be known as “The Ranch at Tumbleweed Park.”
The Masterplan is broken down into eight zones, and the project will be completed
in phases. Philip Weddle reviewed each zone in detail. Some of the changes included
in the Masterplan are additional entrances to the Ranch which will be clear points of
entry; additional structures being added; and moving the Red Shed Theater and
rotating it.
o Flexibility has been built into the Masterplan.
o The additional structures will allow new opportunities for events and functions
at The Ranch.
o Various structures such as the McCroskey House, Edwards House, the Grocery
Store, and others will remain at The Ranch.
Barbara Meyerson inquired if the neighbors are okay with the upcoming changes.
o Jody Crago responded that the Museum Foundation Board is the first to view
the presentation. This presentation will be presented to other stakeholders
and with the community/neighbors in public meetings.
o Jody Crago will keep the board apprised of the meeting outcomes.

Calvenea Malloy asked what the timeline was for these renovations.
o Kim Moyers answered that some of the phases were included in the upcoming
Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) budget, while other phases will be part of
future CIP budget requests.
o If the current CIP budget is approved, the first phase will be the general site
improvements, which includes planting trees and grading where needed.
o Josh Askey queried if the City of Chandler will be responsible for The Ranch.
Kim Moyers replied that The Ranch will continue to be under the Museum.
5. Executive Subcommittee Update
The Executive Subcommittee Meeting scheduled for March 6, 2023, has been
cancelled in lieu of the Board Retreat, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. and is being held
at the Chandler Museum in the Saguaro Room.
6. Strategic Planning Workgroup Update
Barbara Meyerson, Joan Clark, and Jody Crago virtually met with the board retreat
facilitator, Maureen Robinson.
The book written by Maureen Robinson, “Nonprofit Boards that Work,” was
distributed to each board member.
A homework assignment was also distributed to the board members. The
assignment is for the board members to choose a few of the listed activities to do
before the board retreat on March 6th. Many of the activities listed emphasize how
the Museum is much more than the building which houses the exhibits.
o Jody Crago stated if anyone would like to shadow a school field trip at The
Ranch, to contact himself or Tiffani Egnor before attending.
7. City Update
Recruitment for the Museum Storytelling Coordinator has begun. This is a revised
position of the Collections Coordinator position.
o Collections management is still a large part of this position. In addition to
managing the collections, another major component of this position will be to
collect the stories which go with the collections.
o It is a key position for the Museum. Jody Crago will keep the board updated as
the recruitment continues.
Wayfinding signage installation is continuing. Pylons should be getting installed the
first full week of March 2023.
The Celebration Plaza Event was on Saturday, January 28, 2023. It was a successful
event with over 150 people attending.
Working on a project with students from Chandler Southside to possibly have
student exhibits or a student film. More information to follow.
The Chandler Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held on Saturday,
February 18, 2023, at Hamilton High School.

o This year’s inductees were Seton Catholic’s girls’ basketball coach Karen Self;
Hamilton alum and wheelchair rugby star Joe Jackson; former Hamilton and
Arizona State basketball star Eric Jacobsen; former Hamilton and Alabama
volleyball star Brittany Kouandjio; and former Chandler resident and current
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Bryce Perkins.
Visual Arts staff is working with a contractor to get the art fins repaired and replaced.
Completing a grant to rehouse the flat files.
Working with Dr. Rafael Martinez Orozco of Arizona State University (ASU) Polytech
School and his students on collecting Hispanic oral histories from Southside,
Hightown, and Galveston neighborhoods.
Jody Crago will be speaking at the 2023 Annual Conference of the American
Association for State & Local History (AASLH). The conference will be this September
in Boise, Idaho.
