REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 13, 2023
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Vice-Chair Facciponti called the meeting to order on Tuesday, February 13, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.

2. ACTION AGENDA
a. Approval of the Minutes of the Military and Veterans Affairs Commission Regular
Meeting of January 10, 2023
Vice-Chair Facciponti requested a motion for approval of the minutes for the January 10,
2023, Military and Veterans Affairs Commission meeting. Commissioner Waltzer made the
motion to approve the minutes of the January 10, 2023, minutes. Commissioner Farabee
seconded the motion.
The minutes were approved 4-0 by all Commission members present.
3. DISCUSSION
a. Update for the Fiscal Year 22-23, one-time budget for the Military and Veterans Affairs
Commission

The Commission agreed to have occasional updates of the budget.
b. Discussion on hosting a Service Recognition Event recognizing high school students
who have committed to military service after graduation.
Mr. Andy Bass updated the Commission on available dates at the City Council Chambers.
The Commission chose May 9 with a Meet and Greet reception at 6:00 p.m. and the event at
6:30 p.m.
Commissioner Levinson had a discussion with Sergeant Christopher Ortega, with the
Chandler recruiting office. Food for the event will be provided by the recruiting office.
Vice-Chair Facciponti asked if the schools were discussed in their meeting. Commissioner
Levinson responded that schools were discussed but currently they are in a recruitment
crisis. Discussion ensued.
c. Discussion on building a Veteran Memorial wall at Veteran Oasis Park to honor fallen,
Chandler veterans.
Vice-Chair Facciponti met with Councilmember Orlando regarding the Veteran’s Memorial
wall or kiosk.
Commissioner Waltzer asked if all that had served in Chandler would be included or if it
was just going to be Killed in Action, Missing in Action, or Prisoner of War. Vice-Chair
Facciponti responded that it would be military Killed in Action, Missing in Action, or Prisoner
of War.

a. The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 14, at 5:00 p.m.

With no further items, Vice-Chair Facciponti adjourned the meeting at 5:45 p.m.
