January 2023 Domestic Violence Commission Meeting Minutes Move Domestic Violence Commission approve the meeting minutes of the January 11, 2023 regular meeting. Motion: Vice Chair Lynn Seconded: Commissioner Hinchey UNANIMOUS APPROVAL 2. January 2023 Domestic Violence Commission Community Outreach Subcommittee Meeting Minutes Move Domestic Violence Commission approve the meeting minutes of the January 11, 2023 Community Outreach Subcommittee meeting. Motion: Commissioner Curtis Seconded: Vice Chair Lynn UNANIMOUS APPROVAL Discussion 3. Domestic Violence Event 2023 – September 26, 2023 was confirmed. Need name of the event, speakers, resource, and survivors. Discussion of possible speakers. Possibly have drums, videos, sign language, types of healing, types of donations, Native American resources, visual impact ideas. Confirmed black linens. Master of Ceremony recommendation. 4. Domestic Violence Commission Community Outreach Subcommittee – working on Healthy Relationships with schools. Library may be able to partner with us. City of Chandler Art Commission/Peter Bugg offered easels to help with our displays, and how to partner with the Art Commission for 2024. Member Comments/Announcements ACESDV Sexual and Domestic Violence two day conference was amazing. ACESDV Sharing Experience (five day trainings for domestic violence advocates) registration is open for the five trainings to be held this year. Core Advocacy Training will also be available. Thrive Luncheon will be a the Van Gogh in Scottsdale. VOCA will be cut about 70%, so there may be less resources in rural areas of Arizona. Page 3 of 3 Soroptimist-San Tan is a philanthropy group interested in the Domestic Violence Commission and talking at one of their meetings. Calendar The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 9 a.m., in the Council Chambers Conference Room, 88 E. Chicago St., Chandler, Arizona. The next Community Outreach Subcommittee meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at 10 a.m., in the Council Chambers Conference Room, 88 E. Chicago St., Chandler, Arizona.
