Resolution 5679-Submission of Projects for COPS TEP

RESOLUTION NO. 5679 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING A GRANT APPLICATION WITH THE U.S. 
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE’S OFFICE OF COMMUNITY ORIENTED 
POLICING SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $680,000. 
 
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services 
(COPS), by and through its Technology and Equipment Program, funds grants to state and local 
agencies for projects designed to develop and acquire effective equipment, technologies, and 
interoperable communications that assist in responding to and preventing crime; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler, through the Fire Department, is interested in submitting projects 
to be considered for funding in the form of reimbursable grants from the 2023 COPS Technology 
and Equipment Program; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Chandler Fire Department is seeking authority to apply for a 2023 COPS 
Technology and Equipment Program grant in the amount of $680,000, with a required local match 
of approximately $570,000, for the purpose of supporting the purchase of a Joint Mobile Command 
Center; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Chandler Fire Department has determined that it can comply with the terms of 
the grant and use the funds in the manner described in the grant application. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows:  
 
Section 1.   
Authorizing the submission of a grant application in the amount of $680,000 for 
consideration for an award from the 2023 COPS Technology and Equipment 
Program.  
 
Section 2.  
Authorizing the City Manager or his designee to conduct all negotiations and to 
execute and submit all documents and any other necessary or desirable instruments 
in connection with such grant application and the terms of any grant award.
