RESOLUTION NO. 5705 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, 
AUTHORIZING 
THE 
MAYOR 
TO 
ENTER 
INTO 
A 
PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT WITH THE ARIZONA STATE PARKS 
BOARD AND THE ARIZONA STATE HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICER 
FOR CHANDLER TO BECOME A CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN 
THE STATE’S HISTORIC PRESERVATION PROGRAM. 
 
WHEREAS, the Chandler City Council adopted Ordinance No. 4936 on November 2, 2020, for 
the purpose of establishing the City’s historic preservation program; and 
 
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 4936 and other actions taken by the City qualifies it to enroll in the 
Certified Local Government Program (the “Program”) established by the United States Congress 
through the National Preservation Act of 1980; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Program is administered by the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office; and  
 
WHERAS, participation in the Program would make the City eligible for grand funding to support 
historic preservation efforts; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Program would allow the City to make recommendations on historic resources in 
the City proposed for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places; and 
 
WHEREAS, Resolution 5567 authorized City staff to apply to the State Historic Preservation 
Office for City inclusion into the Program; and 
 
WHEREAS, City staff have applied for City inclusion into the Program; and 
 
WHEREAS, the State Historic Preservation Officer has approved the application 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
Authorizes the Mayor to enter into a Participation Agreement with the Arizona 
State Parks Board through its State Historic Preservation Officer that will make 
Chandler a Certified Local Government. A copy of the Participation agreement is 
attached to this Resolution as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by this reference.
