Meeting Minutes Chandler Cultural Foundation Executive Subcommittee Regular Meeting April 18, 2023 | 4:00 p.m. Chandler Center for the Arts General Manager’s Office 250 N. Arizona Avenue, Chandler, AZ Call to Order The meeting was called to order by David Woodruff at 4:14 p.m. Roll Call Board Member Attendance Staff Attendance David Woodruff, Chair Michelle Mac Lennan, Arts Center Manager LaTricia Woods, Vice-Chair Anna Camino Julia Marreel, Secretary Absent Steena Murray, Treasurer Scheduled and Unscheduled Public Appearances None Consent Agenda 1. January 2023 Cultural Foundation Executive Subcommittee Meeting Minutes Julia Marreel made a motion to approve the minutes from January 24, 2023. LaTricia Woods seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (3-0). The minutes were approved as written. Action Agenda None Page 2 of 3 Briefing 2. Discuss Strategic Plan Year 1 Goals Michelle Mac Lennan reviewed Year 1 items of the Strategic Plan for each area: Leadership in the Arts, Community Impact, and Expanded Facilities. Year 1 items will be presented at the May CCF Board Meeting. 3. Discuss FY24 Annual Retreat/Training Opportunity Two possible opportunities for the Annual Board Retreat/Meeting: o Welcome back last year’s board retreat facilitator, Abby Wilkymacky, to continue working on/implementing the Strategic Plan. o Hire Teniqua Broughton, Founder and CEO, of Verve Simone Consulting for Equity Readiness Learning Workshop. o The City of Chandler is working to get Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Training for all boards and commissions. This proposal would be a potential pilot for other boards and commissions in the City. Funding is proposed from the City budget. o After reviewing both options, the Executive Subcommittee chose to bring forth to the full board the VerveSimone Consulting proposal. o City staff will send out a poll to board members with date options to hold the training after this has been presented at the Chandler Cultural Foundation (CCF) Board Meeting on April 27, 2023. o This training will take the place of the Annual Board Retreat. o A future Strategic Plan special meeting may be planned in lieu of a springtime board meeting. 4. Discuss FY24 Expanded Facilities Needs Assessment Look at activating a Long-Range Planning Subcommittee or Workgroup. Membership will include high level representation from the Chandler Unified School District, the City of Chandler, and the Chandler Cultural Foundation. 5. Discuss FY24 Chandler Cultural Foundation (CCF) Budget Michelle Mac Lennan discussed the FY24 CCF Budget. As Year 1 of the Strategic Plan gets underway, identifying what funding may be needed in the future, especially when it involves staffing, will be included. This will be important in Year 2 and 3 of the Strategic Plan. Placeholders for funding Strategic plan initiatives will be built into the CCF FY24 Budget.
