May 10, 2023 Domestic Violence Commission Meeting Minutes Move Domestic Violence Commission approve the meeting minutes of the May 10, 2023 regular meeting. Motion: Commissioner Curtis Seconded: Commissioner Codkind UNANIMOUS APPROVAL Page 2 of 3 2. Approval of Minutes for Domestic Violence Commission Subcommittee Tabled to next meeting 3. Participation and to provide a letter of support for Field of Hope Event 2024 Move to participate and provide a letter of support Motion: Vice Chair Lynn Seconded: Commissioner Hinchey UNANIMOUS APPROVAL Discussion 4. Commissioners chose Proclamations to draft for the next meeting: Child Abuse Prevention Month - Commissioner DuCharme Domestic Violence Awareness Month- Commissioner Codkind Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month- Commissioner Curtis The Domestic Violence Awareness Month proclamation will be discussed next meeting and then Commissioner Hinchey will provide to SWIWC to review. This proclamation will be read at a September 2023 City Council Meeting. Commissioner Hinchey proposed for a Sexual Assault Awareness Month Proclamation. She will bring ideas to the next meeting where this will be an Action Item. 5. Domestic Violence Event 2023 – September 26 from 10 am – 12 pm at AVION Center Flyer - Commissioner Codkind updated the flyer and will send to the Staff Liaison to share with all DV Commissioners. The flyer is aligned with a gender-neutral photograph. Canvas - A canvas with a hand and stamps honoring missing and murdered indigenous woman was discussed. Food – purchase from local Native American vendors and restaurants Tables – black tablecloths, B/G Club artwork laminated or children from Gila River, colorful baskets representing tribes Save the Date – social invite platform is being researched by Commissioner Flippen Speakers – Commissioner Hinchey will discuss with speakers with SWIWC Legislative Update – Commissioner Hinchey will present Community Resource tables – Commissioners will provide agency representatives to Chair Grieve 6. Domestic Violence Community Outreach Subcommittee – Light Chandler Purple is still in discussion, library collaboration will begin with a future invitation to attend a DV Commission meeting, CUSD tabling for 2023/2024 school year will begin with Chair Grieve sending school representatives an email to offer the activity again Page 3 of 3 Member Comments/Announcements Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence – July 2023 Sharing Experience virtual conference registration is open My Sister’s Place – Pathways hired a new Sexual Assault Advocate Calendar 7. Next Regular Domestic Violence Committee meeting on July 12, 2023 at 9:00 AM 8.
