Resolution 5726 Project Cities IGA with ASU

RESOLUTION NO. 5726 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA 
APPROVING 
A 
MASTER 
INTERGOVERNMENTAL 
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHANDLER AND THE ARIZONA 
BOARD OF REGENTS FOR AND ON BEHALF OF ARIZONA STATE 
UNIVERSITY FOR THE PROJECT CITIES PROGRAM; AND AUTHORIZING 
THE MAYOR TO SIGN THE AGREEMENT AND THE CITY MANAGER TO 
SIGN ANY OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTS OR INSTRUMENTS IN 
CONNECTION WITH THE AGREEMENT; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY 
TO TAKE ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY AND APPROPRIATE TO CARRY 
OUT THE TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT. 
 
WHEREAS, Project Cities is a university-community program connecting Arizona State University 
(“ASU”) students and faculty in select academic courses with projects and sustainability needs and/or 
challenges faced by local community partners; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City would benefit from a collaboration with ASU to develop innovative 
solutions to difficult problems that can be used to plan and implement sustainability efforts in the 
City of Chandler; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City and ASU, acting through the Arizona Board of Regents, are authorized to 
act and enter into this Intergovernmental Agreement (“IGA”) pursuant to A.R.S. Section 11-952; 
and 
 
WHEREAS, the City and ASU will enter into a Master IGA that, as projects are identified, will 
be supplemented by individual Scope of Work Statements, to be approved in accordance with the 
City’s existing purchasing policies, that describe each specific project and the applicable budget. 
 
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
Approves the Master IGA between the City of Chandler and the Arizona Board of 
Regents for an on behalf of ASU for the Project Cities Program in substantially the 
form attached hereto as Exhibit “A” and incorporated herein by reference. 
 
Section 2. 
Authorizes the Mayor of the City of Chandler to execute the Master IGA on behalf 
of the City of Chandler. 
 
Section 3.  
Authorizes the City Manager or designee to sign all other documents and 
instruments, including Scope of Work Statements, in connection with the IGA and 
take any action necessary to carry out the purposes of this item.
