RESOLUTION NO. 5723 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXPAND, AMEND, 
AND EXTEND FIVE WATER CONSERVATION REBATE PROGRAMS; AND 
FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AND 
ACCEPT GRANT FUNDS FROM THE WATER INFRASTRUCTURE 
FINANCE 
AUTHORITY 
(WIFA) 
RELATED 
TO 
FOUR 
WATER 
CONSERVATION MEASURES.  
 
WHEREAS, on or about August 30, 2010, the City of Chandler established water conservation 
rebate programs that offer a financial incentive for City of Chandler water utility customers to 
implement water conservation measures; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler seeks to expand and amend the water conservation rebate 
programs and to extend the programs until further Council action is taken; and  
 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler seeks to apply for and receive grant awards from WIFA related 
to water conservation measures. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona, 
as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
Approves the expansion, amendment, and extension of five water conservation 
rebate programs: (1) Single Family Residential Grass Removal Rebate Program; 
(2) Single Family Residential Smart Controller Rebate Program; (3) Large 
Landscape Grass Removal Rebate Program; (4) Large Landscape Smart Controller 
Rebate Program; and (5) Water Efficient Technology Rebate Program. These five 
water conservation rebate programs replace the Smart Irrigation Controller Rebate 
Program and Landscape Conversion Rebate Program previously approved by 
Resolution No. 4370.  
 
Section 2. 
Authorizes the City Manager to apply for and accept grant funds from WIFA in the 
following amounts for purposes of this resolution: (1) Large Landscape Grass 
Removal Rebate Program -- $975,000.00; (2) Water Efficient Technology Rebate 
Program – $1,500,000.00; (3) Non-functional Grass Removal on Public Property -
- $3,000,000.00; and (4) Water Conservation Customer Engagement Portal -- 
$150,000.00.
