RESOLUTION NO. 5740 
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF FUNDS FROM THE 
ARIZONA STATE TREASURER’S OFFICE AS SET FORTH IN SENATE BILL 
1720 
AND 
AUTHORIZING 
THE 
CONTINGENCY 
TRANSFER 
OF 
$2,250,000.00 FROM THE CITY’S GENERAL FUND TO ALLOW FOR 
EXPENDITURES OF THE STATE FUNDS FOR THE CITY OF CHANDLER, 
POLICE DEPARTMENT. 
WHEREAS, the Arizona State Legislature and Governor Hobbs approved Senate Bill 1720, which 
authorized funding of $2,250,000.00 for the City of Chandler for certain police uses; and  
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1720 became effective after the Fiscal Year 2023/2024 Budget for the 
City of Chandler was approved necessitating a contingency transfer of $2,250,000.00 from the 
City’s general fund in order for the funds to be expended; and 
WHEREAS, the City of Chandler, through its Police Department, wishes to accept the state funds 
outlined in Senate Bill 1720 for a pepper ball pilot program, new technology, building out services 
and officer wellness; and 
WHEREAS, in order to spend the funds from the State of Arizona, a contingency transfer of 
$2,250,000.00 from the City’s General Fund is necessary; and  
WHEREAS, the Chandler City Council has determined that the contingency transfer and 
acceptance of funds from the State of Arizona for the purposes set forth herein are in the best 
interests of the residents of the City of Chandler. 
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chandler, Arizona as 
follows:    
Section 1.  
Approving a contingency transfer of $2,250,000.00 from the City’s general fund to 
the account strings set forth below is hereby approved:

Section 2. 
Authorizing the City Manager, or designee, to accept the funds from the State of 
Arizona to be used for the purposes set forth in Section 1 of this Resolution. 
Section 3. 
Authorizing the Police Chief of the Chandler Police Department to take such 
actions necessary to implement the programs designated for the use of the State 
funds and to comply with the terms of Senate Bill 1720 for the expenditure of the 
State funds.
